HOW TO VIEW
CLASS RECORDINGS

Class sessions are recorded and encoded using a proprietary format. The resulting files CANNOT BE VIEWED using Microsoft's Media Player, Apple's Quicktime, or RealPlayer. Also, the recordings CANNOT BE VIEWED using the sofware you use, iLinc LearnLinc software, to attend class each day. You must FIRST download and install the iLinc Player to view the class session recordings.

  • Install the iLinc Player, and
  • Play Class Session Recordings using the iLinc Player



 

OBTAINING THE iLinc PLAYER

To download the iLinc Player

  • Go to your iLinc LearnLinc Home Page, which is the first web page you see each day when you log in to attend class.
  • Click on the DownLoad Button at the top of the page (see below). This will take you to a web page, which displays software downloads available to you.

  • Scroll down the page (see below) until you reach the section labeled iLinc Player Version 7. Now, select the download option by right clicking on the word Download and then selecting the Windows option Save Target As. Save the target iLinc Player file (iLincPlayer.exe) on the machine you want to use to play the class session recordings. (Note: the file size is approximately 900 KB)

  • You are now ready to install the player.























































INSTALLING THE iLinc PLAYER


To install the iLinc Player

  • Locate the iLincPlayer.exe file saved to your machine.
  • Double click on the file name to start the installation process. Since the file you downloaded is compressed, you will first be asked (see below) if you want to "unzip" and thereby install the software. Click Yes.
          
  • The installation should now take place without any further user intervention. At the end of the installation, which should take from a few seconds to about one minute depending upon computer type, you should see the dialog box shown below.
          
  • Click the Finish button. The iLinc Player is now installed and ready to use to view Governor's School class session recordings.
































VIEWING CLASS SESSION RECORDINGS USING THE iLinc PLAYER

To view a class recording archive Recording File using the iLinc Player software

  • Navigate to the archive page for your Governor's School class.
  • Locate the posting of the Recording File for the date and time of interest .
  • Right click on the Recording File link and select the Windows option Save Target As.
  • Save the file to the machine where you have the iLinc Player installed.
  • Start the iLinc Player software. This can be done in Microsoft Windows by going to the START button, selecting All Programs, then selecting iLinc Player. If you also have the iLinc LearnLinc software (what you use to attend Governor's School class each day) installed on the machine you are using, you should look for iLinc 7.7 after selecting All Programs and then look for the iLinc Player in a menu option under iLinc 7.7. The plaer software should open a window on your screen like that shown below.

  • Select File drop down menu and then Open. Browse to the location where you have saved the Recording File you want to view and then click the Open button. You have now loaded the file you want to view into the player.
  • To play the recording, click on the Play Button (see figure below), which is the button with the single right pointing arrow. A new window should open in which the recorded video will display. You may need to re-size the window to view all of the recorded information. Also, since audio is also typically part of the recording, you may need to adjust your computer's audio settings and/or volume setting.
          
  • Close the iLinc Player window to end playing the recording.
