I missed orientation and consequently do not have a photo appearing when I am called upon in class.
What do I do?

You can either mail a photo to the Governor School offices (see this page for mailing address...the photo will be scanned and returned to you provided you provide a return address) or send a high quality image file (jpeg or gif format preferred) as an e-mail attachment to support@hgs.k12.va.us. Submitted photos must meet the requirements listed at the bottom of this page. Do not edit the photo prior to sending. The photo will be edited for content and format at the Governor's School. Substantially edited photographs and/or photographs deemed inappropriate cannnot be used.

Due to the volume of e-mails received, in most cases no reply to e-mail photo submission is possible. Depending upon the time in the academic year in which your photograph is received, it may take up to two weeks before your photo is posted. If after such time your photo is still not visible in LearnLinc, your photo did not meet the requirements outlined below. Try again.

Yeech....I hate my picture. How do I change it?

You cannot change your iLinc photograph. However, if you send a replacement photograph, either by mailing a photograph to the Governor's School (here is the address), which will be returned, or by sending a high quality digitial image (jpeg or gif format preferred) as an e-mail attachment to support@hgs.k12.va.us.

Read the basic photograph requirements listed at the bottom of this page before sending your photograph. Photos not meeting these requirements will not be used.

A few comments about student photographs for iLinc LearnLinc use

Student photographs used in iLinc (i.e., LearnLinc, etc.) are a requirement, not an option.
Consequently, if you do not have a photogragh that displays, you need to supply one as soon as possible. If you do not have a photograph listed with the Governor's School after a reasonable period of time, your iLinc and e-mail accounts may be deleted.

Basic requirements of photograph submissions

It must be clear and focus must be sharp. The face must be well lite. If a digital submission is made, it must be a high quaility format and file size. (e.g., 34kb files are not big enough to edit/use.) The composition must be such to allow for "landscape" editing. That is, there needs to be space on both sides of your face to work with. Vertical content (above or below one's face) is not important as long as it is not too close to the face. No hats, logos, symbols, and/or trademarks can be visible.

Use of photograph by the Governor's School

The subject photograph is used only within iLinc software and therefore is at most viewable by yourself, your instructor, and your Governor's School classmates. Once your association with the Governor's School ends for the academic year, your photograph is deleted from all computer systems upon which it had been stored. The photograph will never be used for any use other than with iLinc software.
