Charles Coulomb (1736-1806)
Coulomb was a trained engineer graduating in 1761. After 1781 most of his work was devoted to physics rather than engineering. He wrote seven important treatises on electricity and magnetism which he submitted to the Académie des Sciences between 1785 and 1791.
