Welcome to the Appalachian History Archive. Here you can explore the rich history of Southwest Virginia through it's people, as they tell their stores in oral history sessions, through its places, and through the activities of the region, from canning to murder mysteries and folklore.

The purpose of the Linwood Holton Governor's School Appalachian History Archive is to preserve, and make available for public use, the best results of student work form the HGS course of the same name. In this way, it is hoped that students, studying local history, will create a lasting record of the history and noble heritage of the region.

Enjoy!
