Thermal Energy and Work
The thermal energy of an object is the total of
the kinetic energies of the individual particles.
The unit of energy or work is the joule (J).
An older unit still in use is the calorie (=4.184
Power is the rate at which work is done; unit
of power is J/s or watt (W).
Work or energy can be expressed as power x
time (as in kilowatt-hours kWh).
