Thermal Energy and Work

is the total of the kinetic energies of the individual
particles.

©The unit of energy or
work is the joule (J).

©An older unit still in
use is the calorie (=4.184 J).
©Power is the rate at which work
is done; unit of power is J/s or watt (W).
©Work or energy can be
expressed as power x time (as in kilowatt-hours kWh).
